CASA HAWAI

WELCOME TO CASA HAWAI AND THE PRETTY TOWN OF AGUA AMARGA

We have written down a few things to better enjoy the house and the surroundings during your stay here.

THE HOUSE

  • Since they put a desalination plant in Carboneras we have drinking water at home.
  • There are enough sheets and towels for people staying with us. If you need more do not hesitate to contact us.
  • The sofa bed opens by removing the bedspread, pulling the part underneath like a drawer, until it can no longer and raise it by pulling the loop. If you need help do not hesitate to contact us.
  • Please leave us the dirty sheets and towels in the kitchen before leaving. Thank you.
  • You must have enough butane for your stay, if not the butane comes on Monday mornings, approximated laqs 10:00. Leave the bonbona out in the wax so that it can be seen from the road. You will have to be pending to pay him, they are 9.50 euros. If you have problems, call Carmen.
  • There is a truck of mineral water that comes on Tuesdays and Saturdays, 14:30, you have to carry jerry cans and bottles to fill them. The water in the truck is cheaper than in the store.
  • We have two controls for television. Gray is for turning it on and off and Black is for changing channels. There is a button to change the language from Spanish to the original version.
  • If you have problems with the sofa bed please call Carmen or Jemima.

THE ONLY THING WE ASK IS TO LOWER THE UMBRELLA ON THE TERRACE WHEN YOU LEAVE, IT CAN BE VERY WINDY HERE…. AND ENJOY THIS WONDERFUL PLACE.

THE SHOPS

In the village of Agua Amarga, there is a small supermarket, and a fishmonger that is only open in high season. There are also some fashionable shops, souvenirs and ceramics of the area.

In Carboneras, there is a large supermarket, Mercadona, open all day until 21:00. It is closed on Sundays. They also have a flea market on Thursday mornings, which is worth visiting.

Carboneras has a medical centre, you will see the sign and how to get to the entrance of the town.

RESTAURANTS AND BARS

There is an assortment of restaurants: 4 on the beach and in the village there are two pizzerias, one that also offers other dishes to take away You can eat very well and cheaply in the bar on the square.

There is also La Chumbera, a restaurant in an old farmhouse, which is located on top of the mountain behind Agua Amarga on the way to Carboneras.

If you are hiking in Cabo de Gata, you can eat a delicious paella at the Hostal / Restaurant La Isleta del Moro which is located on the seashore. It has a terrace where you can almost have your feet in the sea while eating. The cuajadera, a typical dish from here, is a specialty they make there and the paella is very good too.

THE BEACHES

The Agua Amarga beach is great but there are other beaches that are worth visiting; The 3 beaches are unspoilt with no bars or restaurants. They also have no shadow.

  • The Playa de los Muertos, on the way to Carboneras.
  • Los Genoveses and Monsúl near San José.
  • Cala den Medio access on foot from Agua Amarga, by a narrow path of about 3 km.
  • Cala del Plomo, which is the next cove after the Enmedio, is very quiet. It is reached by going down a dirt road from the road to Fernán Perez. Watch out for the car!
